The V San Roque Book Fair will take place between April 10 and 14. In those five days there will not only be book sales stalls in Alameda Alfonso As in previous years, several Campo-Gibraltar bookstores will set up stalls in Alameda Alfonso XI. Regarding the program of activities for the V Book Fair, it will begin with a parade on Wednesday, April 10, which will end at noon at the Juan Luis Galiardo Theater with the performance of the play “El Quixote Nómada”, by bricAbrac Theater. In the afternoon, the cartoonist Fer Jiménez will give the workshop “How to draw Ibáñez characters”, to end with the musical show “Storytelling of Mr. Don Nadie”, by Laura Cerezo. On Thursday the 11th there will be workshops in the morning aimed at students from schools in the municipality, and in the afternoon a story-telling session led by Juan Gamba. On Friday morning there will also be workshops for schoolchildren, while in the afternoon Bruto Pomeroy will give the talk “As a child I wanted to be like Ibáñez”, followed by a storytelling session by Filiberto Chamorro. On Saturday the 13th in the morning and in Puente Mayorga the “Villa Carmela” Literary Walk will take place, while at noon there will be a walk with stories and music by the storyteller Diego Magdaleno and the musician Don Jozelito. This activity will begin in Los Cañones, and after touring the town it will make stops with stories in the Miguel Ángel Blanco Park, in the Barriada de la Paz and in the María Domínguez Remón Park, as well as at its end in the Alameda.

In the afternoon you can enjoy the conference “Why what is not going to happen to us happens to us”, by Laura Freixa and a concert by the Honey River Jazz Band.

On Sunday the 14th, a “Willy Wonka Market” will be held, dedicated to this character from the book “Charley and the Chocolate Factory”, to end with the closing ceremony of the V San Roque Book Fair.

The author of the poster for the V Book Fair, Camino Viñayo Blanco, has explained that her work wanted to pay tribute to Francisco Ibáñez, who died in July of last year, although she had also included references to other anniversaries that occur in 2024, such as the 20th. anniversary of the death of Carmen Laforet, the 40th anniversary of Julio Cortazar, the 75th anniversary of the publication of the book “1984” by George Orwell and the recent release of a posthumous book by Gabriel García Márquez.
